Welcome to The Structor.

My name is Tim Pappoe and the most important thing you need to know about me is that I am a believer in, and follower of Jesus Christ. I call him brother, friend, Lord and savior. How can one person be all those things at once? That's what makes him so special. He somehow pulls it off without a hitch. Over time if you are a frequent visitor to this blog you will get to know me more as we take a journey together.

Structor is a Latin word whose meaning I think describes me and this blog well. It means a builder and also one who serves at a table, like a waiter.

The Builder

In my spare time I like to build furniture but that’s not mainly why I think of myself as a builder. Rather, I am inspired by the apostle Paul's encouragement to, 

 

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians. 4:29. 

 

Modern technology presents us with the internet and instant connectivity to a crazy marketplace of ideas. There is much that is false and corrupting and hopefully much that is good for building a person up. I hope to be one whose communication builds up rather than corrupts. 

 

The Server.

It is not an exaggeration or over generalization to say that everyone wants what is good. In fact I think everyone wants what is best. However we define good by very different standards. What if there is such a thing as absolute and ultimate good? What if this good could be obtained? What price would any of us pay to obtain this ultimate good? A wise man, the prophet Isaiah, under the influence of God's Holy spirit wrote these words: 

 

Come, everyone who thirsts,

come to the waters;

and he who has no money,

come, buy and eat!

Come, buy wine and milk

without money and without price.

Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,

and your labor for that which does not satisfy?

Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,

and delight yourselves in rich food.  Isaiah 55:1,2

 

This is an open invitation from God our creator to all people to a feast of real goodness found only in him through his son Jesus Christ. I'm a waiter offering this goodness to any who will accept the invitation.

The Structor is a place where I hope two kinds of people will be drawn. The first kind are those like me, who love Jesus and who will come to essentially hang out and be built up.  The other kind are those who are thirsty for real drink and hungry for real food.  I hope you will be built up and fed here.
